London Times, 24 October 1908, p. 10: THE TRIALS OF THE RURIK. (From our own correspondent.) St. Petersburg, Oct. 23. The Admiralty has not yet published the report of the Rurik’s trials. A long communiqué has been sent to the newspapers exonerating the Admiralty from responsibility for the designs of the turrets, but omitting any explanation of the nature of the defects found therein. Thus public opinion is left to imagine the worst, whereas the defects, as shown in the official report, are easily remediable, and the good faith of the builders has been proved by their readiness to accept the unprecedented conditions of the trials.
