1906-02-20 POTEMKIN MUTINEERS SENTENCED

The Court-martial yesterday concluded the trial of the mutineers of the battleship Kniaz Potemkin. Three sailors were condemned to death by hanging, but their sentence was immediately commuted to one of penal servitude for 15 years. Three others were sentenced to penal servitude for terms of seven, 12, and 20 years’ respectively. Nine sailors received sentences of two years’ and 23 of one year’s penal servitude. A doctor, a petty officer, and a sub-lieutenant were dismissed the service. One petty officer and 24 sailors were acquitted.
