1910-02-15 REPORTED NAVAL PROGRAMME

London Times, 15 February 1910, p. 5: REPORTED NAVAL PROGRAMME. According to the Russ, a naval programme involving an expenditure of £100,000,000, chiefly devoted to Dreadnoughts, has received the Imperial sanction. I am unable to confirm the report in all details, but it is beyond question that the Admiralty has long been engaged in discussing an extensive shipbuilding programme. The resources of the Russian yards being already overtaxed, new ships will have to be ordered abroad. But the programme would have to be submitted to the Duma, and, in view of the existing dissatisfaction with the naval administration, the Duma’s consent in the near future is improbable.
